Follow these steps to connect an HP printer to a wireless network using Wi-Fi protected setup:

-Quickly connect your HP printer to a wireless network using the push button method of WPS, or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
-You do not need a computer to connect your printer to the network using WPS.
-If during the connection process or when you install the software for your printer, your computer prompts you to enter a WPS PIN, select Cancel.
-Your computer has detected the Wi-Fi Direct feature of the printer, which is not part of the WPS setup.
-For printers with a Wireless button, press and hold it for three seconds until the wireless light blinks.
-If your printer doesn’t have a Wireless button but does have a control panel with menus, navigate to the Network Settings or Wireless Settings menu.
-Touch Wi-Fi Protected Setup, touch Push Button, and then touch Start.
-On the router, press and hold the WPS button until the WPS light blinks.
-It can take up to two minutes for the printer to establish a connection with the router.
-With your printer on the wireless network, you can install the software on your mobile device or computer and begin printing.

  • This was the best and simplest solution to my inability to connect the HP 3510 printer to my Comcast Gateway tower. I found the WPS button on top of the tower, pressed it down as instructed and “BOOM” wifi connection made between my HP Printer and my modem/router!

  • This method doesn't work on my printer. The light on the router flashes and the light on printer flashes and then I get a message saying the WPS has timed out. I've also tried using a password.I've tried using the wifi password and the hub (route) password but I get an "authentication failure". I've now spent 7 hours today, all completely wasted and now I'll have to fork our £50.00 to get someone in to fix it in 10 minutes. When you've got a MAC the idea of "plug and Play" is complete bollocks! Why do they make everything so difficult????

  • My printer (HP 3735) has the wifi bars but there is an exclamation point above. It keeps blinking. On Windows 10, I plug in my printer with the USB Cable and opened the HP Smart app, I can’t set up at all.
